If you were to consider the many different types of curtains, you will be left feeling confused; there are a wide range of creatively developed curtains. According to your taste and personal style, the type of curtain you choose reflects your personality and reflects the feel of your home you wanted to create. Depending on the room you want to dress with curtains, the function and style of each considered curtain needs to be discussed and well thought out. From kitchen windows to bedroom windows, the function of these curtains must suit that particular room. If you choose translucent curtains such as nets or sheer curtains which can often create a subtle light effect on your room during the day, it is important to remember that these curtains do not provide privacy, especially at night time. These types of curtains can be used in conjunction with opaque curtains to aid in desired privacy. These net curtains can aid in preventing glare during the day, although not totally blocking light. If your window requires more privacy during the day time from peering eyes, consider using sheer or net curtains, along with opaque curtains for night privacy.
Theses overlap arms allow one curtain to pass and overlap the other curtain by 2 or 3 inches. Thus giving you total privacy. So whats the big problem? So wheres the problem? the problem is that these arms are not very strong. This means when you start to hang a medium to heavy curtain. Especially without someone carrying the weight they sag and twist or break completely. Avoiding the problem! So how do we avoid that when hanging from the center of the track or rod and working outwards. Very simple really, if you need 2 hooks to go in the overlap arm then count in to the 3rd hook and hook this into the first real glider or ring. Leaving the 1st and 2nd curtain hooks to just hang in space. continue hanging your curtain working from the middle outwards. Thats how to hang curtains my way (the best way obviously "wink") Then once you have reached the ends of your track or rod (removing any surplus gliders or rings). You go back to the middle and hook in the last couple of curtain hooks into the overlap arms. So avoiding putting to much weight on them.
Once the tracking layout is finalized, then determine the number of carriers or rollers needed. Carriers are just that, they carry the curtain along the tracking. The standard style consists of a nylon block and wheels with a swiveling chain and hook attached. A breakaway version is available which acts contrary to its name; the carrier does not break, it flexes. This allows the curtain to detach from the carrier rather than damage the curtain or carrier. Curtain carriers should be spaced every 6" on the curtain. If your curtain is 242" in length, you will want to have 41 carriers. Drop chains and PVC drop strips are available for use when ventilation space is required and a mesh top curtain is not an option. A drop chain is 18" long with custom lengths available; it is constructed of nickel-plated steel. A PVC drop strip is 18" long with a hole on top which slips over the curtain carrier; a plated hook at the bottom connects to the cubicle curtain. Prior to installation, the job should be laid out on the floor in its intended position with all fittings properly located. This will prove valuable in determining whether all required parts are on hand and ensures proper location and placement.
